About the role:
In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and delivering operational plans that contribute to the long-term health and resilience of state forests. This includes implementing prescribed burning programs, maintaining road and fire trail infrastructure, managing weeds and pest animals, and supporting ecological conservation efforts. You’ll also play a key role in fire management and suppression activities as needed, working in the field and making a real impact on forest safety and sustainability.
We would love you to have
Bachelor’s degree in forestry, environmental science, natural resources, or related field; or relevant experience
Demonstrated understanding of forest management practices, including prescribed burning, road and trail construction and maintenance, silviculture, weed management, and pest animal control.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in preparing and delivering operational plans within a forest management context.
Knowledge and skills in the use of technologies and systems relevant to operations planning, including GIS (e.g., ArcMap).
Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and best-practice methodologies.
Ability to organize and supervise contractors to undertake operational works.
Proven organizational skills—ability to plan and prioritize work and meet standards and deadlines.
Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability and fitness to undertake forest firefighting and meet required fitness levels for the role.
Current valid Driver’s Licence
