The Royal Dental Hospital is the leading public oral health agency in Victoria. Our aim is to improve the oral health of all Victorians, particularly vulnerable groups and those most in need. We provide Victorians with quality oral health care through the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne and work collaboratively with other sectors to deliver oral health promotion programs to benefit all Victorians.
This is a unique opportunity to expand your skills as a dental assistant across several departments, including primary care, the emergency department, and the dental teaching clinic. You’ll receive continuous guidance and support from our amazing team leader in primary care, whose leadership and mentorship will help you navigate complex situations and ensure your development as a dental assistant. This mentorship will be invaluable in helping you achieve your full potential in the field.
Your responsibilities will include
Clinical chair-side assisting with a dentist or specialist in the ward or in surgery.
Providing oral health education and promotion to our patients.
Preparing, maintaining, and managing the clinical environment, including equipment, materials, and instruments, in line with the treatment plan, to enhance efficient patient care.
About you:
Well-developed communication skills.
Ability to work autonomously and take initiative.
Ideally, 12+ months of experience working chair-side assisting. However, if you have the right attitude to learn, this is not essential and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Certificate III in Dental Assisting or Certificate in Dental Nursing (Please note: Overseas-trained dentists must have a qualification in dental assisting from an Australian RTO).
