About the role
Responsible for managing a diverse fleet of vehicles, plant, equipment, and inventory—including PPE and materials—you’ll ensure teams across the organisation have what they need to deliver essential infrastructure and community services. Reporting to the Manager City Works, you’ll provide strategic leadership, drive continuous improvement, and deliver expert advice with a strong focus on service excellence and value for the community.

Classification: Band 8 Commencing at $118,486 pa plus super.
Key Responsibilities: include:
Lead and manage the Fleet & Stores Unit to achieve strategic, operational, and financial objectives while driving continuous improvement.
Ensure the efficient and effective operational management of the city’s assets to maximise value and service delivery.
Provide expert advice on fleet and inventory matters, including the development and review of relevant policies, procedures, and long-term planning.
Oversee asset and inventory management to ensure accurate records, efficient turnover, best value purchasing, and compliance with Council strategies.
Manage the delivery of high-quality maintenance, repair, procurement, and replacement programs to optimise fleet performance and minimise downtime.
Ensure all fleet and stores operations prioritise safety, customer satisfaction, and risk management in line with Council’s standards and policies.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop staff along with extensive experience in fleet management.
Essential Experience:
Formal qualification in Fleet Management.
Formal qualification in Business Management.
A current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
Working knowledge of legislation and regulations applicable to the design, construction and maintenance of vehicles, plant and equipment.
Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and regulations relevant to the provision, operation and maintenance of a large fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment.
Knowledge of effective procurement processes, contract management and administration practices, including ability to prepare technical specifications.
Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
