Bridgeford Group is a fast-growing, multidisciplinary renewable energy, building services engineering, and energy efficiency consultancy that operates at the intersection between class-leading engineering and sustainability, with the aim of future-proofing our clients’ assets and operations. Recently Bridgeford Group acquired the assets of 3E Net Zero Group, which was a leading energy performance contractor specializing in implementing energy efficiency work. Bridgeford Group is now a full-service Net Zero partner for our customers.
At Bridgeford Group, we are passionate about delivering smart, sustainable, and results-driven solutions to our clients.
As we continue to expand across Australia, we’re looking for a motivated business development manager to lead our growth strategy across Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland in the Total Power Solutions and sub-metering market.
THE ROLE
As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and closing new business opportunities within the power solutions space. You will work closely with engineering, project delivery, and senior leadership to develop strategies that drive growth, deliver client value, and support the transition to smarter energy management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Champion and demonstrate Bridgeford Group’s core values of zero harm, initiative, integrity, forward-thinking, and being outward focused in all business development activities.
Build, foster, and grow strong client relationships to maintain a healthy and sustainable business.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities in total power solutions, energy monitoring, and submetering.
Lead the end-to-end tendering and bid process, ensuring alignment with client expectations, company capabilities, and strategic positioning—managing timeframes, costs, and resources effectively.
Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, using creative thinking and market insight to develop innovative solutions and win work.
Undertake client mapping and develop strategic pursuit plans to target high-potential clients, leading associated business development actions to secure opportunities.
Use your existing network and knowledge of our industry to ensure strong sales growth.
Nurture relationships to ensure that Bridgeford Group is considered the market leader in energy solutions.
Prepare and coordinate high-quality tender submissions and proposals, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and evaluation criteria.
Produce clear, detailed, and technically sound reports and presentations, demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills.
Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and market trends, contributing to the firm’s strategy and enhancing our competitive edge.
Gather and analyze client feedback and bid outcomes to identify areas of improvement and inform continuous development of our proposal processes.
Ensure quality assurance and compliance standards are met across all bids, proposals, and client-facing materials.
Be hands-on where needed—able to contribute to technical or project work, not just in a coordination or oversight capacity.
Collaborate with internal teams to leverage collective knowledge, producing value-driven, client-focused outcomes.
Maintain and grow excellent working relationships with new and existing clients, consultants, and delivery partners, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the business development cycle.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
The below mandatory and preferred criteria are ideal; however, we are an equal opportunity employer and encourage applicants with all levels of experience to apply, and we will assess each application on its merits.
Mandatory
Strong industry relationships with a proven ability to leverage established networks and contacts to identify and win new business across our key sectors.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar business development role, with a demonstrated track record of securing major projects and delivering successful proposals to meet or exceed targets.
Tertiary qualifications in engineering, architecture, sustainability, project management, or a related technical discipline. Alternatively, an electrician or equivalent with 10 years’ experience in a related field.
Excellent communication skills, with fluency in both written and spoken English, including the ability to write compelling proposals and present to senior stakeholders.
Proactive and client-focused approach, with outstanding interpersonal skills and a reputation for delivering high-quality service to both internal teams and external partners.
Preferred
10 years’ experience in business development, preferably within engineering, energy, construction, or professional services.
Proven track record in securing and growing client accounts.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with demonstrated ability in each.
Strong technical skills in the power solutions field to be able to answer customer questions with authority.
Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
CRM and pipeline management experience (e.g., Monday.com).
Strong attention to detail in both qualifying customers and record keeping, such as updating CRM.
WHAT WE OFFER
A competitive package commensurate to your experience
A generous budget to use in course of doing business, attending events, meeting clients
A fantastic team environment working alongside like-minded people
Exposure to a variety of diverse, complex, and exciting multidisciplinary engineering projects across multiple sectors.
Fast-tracked career progression in a scale-up consulting firm with growth plans and targets to 2030. You will be an integral part of this plan.
