Based at Barmah Park Vineyard in Victoria’s picturesque Mornington Peninsula, Barmah Park Restaurant & Cellar Door offers a relaxed, refined, and always professional dining experience in a setting with spectacular vineyard views. We create exceptional food and wine experiences focusing on local produce that is seasonal and sustainable and showcases our wines.

We are offering you a lifestyle-friendly role with reasonable hours. The restaurant operates 5 days for lunch service and is only open for dinner service on Friday and Saturday nights.

Trading hours: Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday: 11am – 5pm

Friday & Saturday: 11am – 10pm

Job tasks and responsibilities

The successful head chef applicant will lead our kitchen team by developing seasonal menus through a focus on the best local produce. They will be expected to implement and uphold kitchen operation standards throughout the entire team. We want someone who is dedicated to continuing the exceptional level of food output currently produced by our kitchen, as recognized by the Australian Good Food Guide's Chef Hat award.

Skills and experience

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a previous track record in the following key competencies:

Strong kitchen leadership and interpersonal skills

Have a hands-on management style

Experience in driving, motivating and developing a small team

Strong commitment to quality regional produce

An exciting and creative wine-friendly cooking style that is seasonal and has an emphasis on quality and sustainability.

Strong organizational planning by upholding efficient time management for both themselves and their team.

The ability to manage food and labor costs.

Maintain food consistency and presentation standards

Have a strong understanding of food-related health and safety procedures to protect the health, safety, and welfare of customers and employees.
