About the Role

The Research Grants and Contracts team in Research Services, in which this position sits, is integral to this program of work having responsibility for the end-to-end management and administration of all research grant- and contract-related activities. The Research team consists of three specialist units: Research Grants, Research and Industry Contracts, and Major Research Inititatives. The Research Grants Officer reports through the Research Grants unit.

The Research Grants Officer will provide efficient and effective administrative support for the development, review and submission of research grant proposals. The role will also contribute to coordinating with other areas of the University administration about grant submissions, data entry into research management systems, and organising grant information for researchers.

The position requires strong customer centric focus for exceptional services delivery, initiative to deal with complex issues, excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, and ability to maintain a close working relationship with colleagues and researchers.

About You 

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

Demonstrated experience in project coordination, administration and support preferably in research grants administration or other complex funding programs role.

Experience in developing, reviewing and coordinating national competitive grant schemes submissions in a tertiary institution, research institute or funding agency.

Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to draft correspondence and information guides.

Strong organisational and project management skills with proven ability to ensure effective completion of tasks within deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective networks, develop collaborations and partnerships with a wide range of external partners.

Strong conceptual and analytical skills.

Ability to work autonomously and cooperatively in a team-environment, to follow through on tasks to completion with minimal supervision, and to seek advice and escalate matters, when required.

Enthusiasm, creativity, energy and self-motivation with a flexible, outcomes and solutions-oriented attitude and approach.

High level of competency in the use of standard office packages. Expertise in record maintenance and database management including the ability to develop meaningful reports.
