We’re looking for a passionate Junior Sous Chef to help bring a brand new café to life at the WACA Ground. In this hands on role, you’ll work closely with our Head Chef to deliver fresh, high quality dishes that keep our visitors coming back for more. From prepping and plating to supporting menu development and maintaining kitchen standards, you’ll play a key part in creating an exceptional experiences in a vibrant, fast-paced environment.

How You’ll Make an Impact
Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in managing daily kitchen operations
Supervise and support kitchen staff, particularly during service and food preparation
Ensure all dishes are prepared to the correct specifications, presentation standards, and portion control
Maintain food hygiene and safety standards in line with current legislation
Support stock control processes, including ordering, receiving, and storage
Contribute to menu development, seasonal specials, and kitchen innovation
Help train and develop junior team members, fostering a positive kitchen culture
Oversee sections of the kitchen during service and step up when senior chefs are absent
Ensure cleaning schedules, labelling, and food storage protocols are followed
Work collaboratively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth communication and service flow
A great fit for this role looks like
Trade Certificate, Cert III or Cert IV in Commercial Cookery
Minimum 2–3 years experience
A la carte experience
Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and HACCP principles
Ability to work as a team but also work independently
Good communication and organisational skills
The physical capability to perform the requirements of the job
Able to multitask and work efficiently under pressure
Commitment to delivering an elevated level of customer service
Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
