This NSW Government program is delivering a major regulatory technology transformation through to 2026. The focus is on replacing legacy systems across licensing, vehicles and buses with modern, secure and scalable digital platforms.

Delivery sits within Group Technology and works in close partnership with the business. Agile delivery models are in place, with multiple squads delivering incrementally across a shared core platform.

This environment suits engineers who take ownership, communicate clearly and enjoy working in complex delivery programs.

About your new role!

As a Senior Java Engineer, you will design and deliver backend microservices that support critical regulatory systems. You will work as part of an agile squad, partnering with product, architecture and platform teams to build resilient, high-performing services.

This role is hands-on and delivery focused, with a strong emphasis on quality, security and integration.

Key tasks for this role include:

Designing and building Java 11+ microservices using Spring Boot and REST APIs

Developing secure, scalable and resilient services aligned to enterprise standards

Implementing resilience patterns, logging, monitoring and observability

Integrating with messaging platforms and external systems via secure APIs

Working with containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes

Writing automated unit and integration tests to support quality outcomes

Participating in agile ceremonies and contributing to delivery reporting

About You!

You are a senior backend engineer who enjoys working on complex platforms and large delivery programs.

You will bring:

Strong experience building Java microservices using Spring Boot

Solid understanding of API design, integration and data persistence

Experience working with containerised applications

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks

Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail

Clear communication skills and comfort working in agile teams

Highly regarded:

Event driven architecture experience such as Kafka

Exposure to cloud platforms

Government or regulated industry delivery experience

SAFe or Agile delivery experience

Contract Length: 6 months

Pay Rate: 900 to 1,000 per day + super

Location: Parramatta, Macquarie Park and Sydney CBD

Work Model: Hybrid, 2 to 3 days onsite
