About the role

Banana Shire Council is looking for a reliable and experienced Roller Operator to join our Construction Team in Taroom. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for operating and maintaining Council’s Rollers, carrying out general labouring tasks, and undertaking traffic control duties to support the maintenance and construction of roads, drainage and other civil infrastructure. You'll work under limited supervision and be part of a team that values safety, service excellence, and collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities

Efficient and effective operation of a roller to the required standard

Perform general labouring duties

Provide high quality plant operation services to the work teams at various locations within and outside of the Shire

Maintain and service plant and equipment, in accordance with operating procedures

Maintain a daily diary of plant movements as required

Read and interpret basic plans and instructions

Undertake traffic control and implement traffic control plans as required

Participate in training, exercises and response to disaster management and recovery as required

You will have the following qualifications

QLD Class 'C' driver's licence

QLD Construction White Card or Blue Card (General Safety Induction)

Civil Construction – Operator Roller (LR) Competency

You will be highly regarded if you have experience in operating heavy vehicles within a construction and maintenance infrastructure environment, working within a team, possess other plant tickets and have obtained the following traffic management qualifications:

Implement Traffic Management Plans (ITMP) Qualification

Traffic Controller Competence
