The Family Day Care and In Home Care Coordinator is responsible for the effective coordination, compliance, and quality delivery of Family Day Care (FDC) and In Home Care (IHC) services. This role provides leadership, guidance, and support to educators delivering care in home-based settings, ensuring services meet regulatory, contractual, and organisational requirements while responding to the unique needs of children and families in the local community. The role oversees educator engagement, recruitment, onboarding, monitoring, and professional development, fostering high-quality education and care aligned with the National Quality Framework, In Home Care Program Guidelines, and organizational values.

Working closely with families, educators, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders, the coordinator ensures children receive safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care in flexible home-based environments. With a strong local presence, the role builds and maintains relationships predominantly within the Southern Brisbane and Logan region, supports demand-driven service delivery, and responds to the diverse needs of families requiring non-standard hours, complex care arrangements, or individualized support. The coordinator plays a key role in quality improvement, risk management, and continuous improvement, contributing to positive outcomes for children, families, and educators across both service streams.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Early Childhood approved Diploma or equivalent as approved by ACECQA (Required)

Experience and skills:

Demonstrated thorough knowledge and understanding of current early childhood education practices, knowledge of child development legislative and framework documentation, including Education and Care Regulations, National Quality Framework and Early Years Framework.

Demonstrated experience mentoring and supporting educators, whilst driving performance and delivering positive results in FDC/early childhood/ IHC environments, with particular regard to day-to-day operations as well as client relationship management and retention.

Ability to multitask, set priorities, work remotely with limited supervision and as part of a team.

Demonstrated ability to respond appropriately in difficult situations with educators, parents and guardians.

Current knowledge and understanding of Child Protection Legislation and responsibilities. This includes completion of Child Protection Training to CHCPRT025 to Identify and report children and young people at risk prior to commencement.

Demonstrated initiative and strong sense of personal responsibility for meeting objectives and managing health and safety risks.

Ability and willingness to work within the Philosophy, Policies and Procedures of The Uniting Church in Australia.

Service: personable with a commitment to building strong relationships with FDC educators, children, families, key stakeholders/customers across the Church and its agencies, boards and committees of the Synod.

Responsibility: competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite, Internet and ability and willingness to learn other programs specific to the service (i.e. Harmony, Kronos) and demonstrated attention to detail, timeliness, analytical and focussed on outcomes.

Respect: demonstrated ability to clearly, effectively and confidentially communicate orally and in writing with FDC educators, children, families and clients, whilst managing competing views.

Integrity: models professional and ethical behaviour, demonstrates an attitude of acceptance and respect for all children and their families, with an ability to act with impartiality, honesty, operate flexibly and use effective teamwork skills.

Commitment to working within the purpose and values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod and adhering to the policies, organisational requirements and processes.

Additional requirements:

Current Drivers Licence to Presentation of a current Drivers Licence must be made before your appointment to the position can be confirmed.

Suitability Card for Child Related Employment (Blue Card) to All adults who work with people under 18 years in Queensland are required to undergo a “Working with Children Check” under the screening provisions of the Commission for Children and Young People Act (2000). Presentation of a current Suitability Card must be made before appointment to the position can be confirmed.

Position requires flexibility of hours and travel is required.

A reliable vehicle that is registered and insured.

Hold current First Aid, CPR and Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification.

PRODA account to government online identity verification and authentication system

Work within the Early Childhood Association (ECA) Code of Ethics.

The successful applicant must be eligible to legally work in Australia and proof of eligibility may be requested.

Job preview

Uniting Early Learning is expanding its services within Family Day Care and In Home Care. We are looking to add a new team member 3 full days per week to support our Educators in the Southern Brisbane suburbs, with planned travel to our regional and remote Educators and Families a few times a year.

We offer flexibility in how and when you work to support operational requirements to with both these care types they operate outside of core business hours and there may be requirements for you to conduct a visit in the evening or on a weekend, at times. This means that we will need you to offer some flexibility at times with your start and finish times.

We have a one day per month in person team meeting at our Deagon Office. The rest of the time will be spent completing visits to Educators and Families, with administrative tasks able to be performed flexibly in a suitable and safe working environment.

As we bring on new Families and Educators, we will continue to monitor your caseload. We offer additional hours to our part time staff before increasing team numbers and there may be an opportunity to increase in the future. For full time staff we offer a condensed 9 day fortnight with a long weekend every alternate week!
