Manager, Software Test Team

Position overview

The Manager, Software Test Team is responsible for the overall operation and performance of the Software Test team. They will develop, maintain and monitor the software testing (both manual & automated) strategies, standards and templates related to software testing practices at Central 1. They are responsible for a team of 15-20 testers & team leads who are responsible for both project-related testing and ongoing regression testing of our suite of web based and mobile applications.

You’ll be primarily accountable for:

• Maintaining and enforcing testing methodologies, standards, practices, templates and governance

• Supporting the test team on the go/no-go decisions for releases

• Facilitating project completion by removing roadblocks as needed

• Working closely with the development team to continuously improve our testing practices

• Establishing and cultivating a strong team environment

• Negotiating and approving staff and team performance objectives

• Providing individuals with accurate and timely feedback and coaching for performance improvement

• Completing and delivering annual performance evaluations

• Supporting coaching and career development for staff

• Identifying and approving training for staff

• Working with the PMO to plan and assign resources for project work and ensuring staffing levels are appropriate for organizational needs

Your qualifications include

As the successful candidate, you possess a university degree in computer science, business, engineering or another suitable discipline and a minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience, including at least 3 years in managing a similar type of group. You have experience in working in an agile development environment, and a strong background in automated testing and implementation of best practices related to automation. You have experience in a software testing environment focusing on testing web and mobile based applications. You have thorough knowledge of testing methodologies and best practices, as well as experience in collecting and analyzing software quality metrics.
