Senior Manager Town Planning, Human Settlements, Building Control
The successful manager will be responsible for Spatial Planning, Development Control, Building Control, Human Settlements and Geographic Information System. The ideal candidate is a motivated, self-starter with vision and this position is highly challenging.
Minimum Requirements: Appropriate B Degree or a Diploma in Town and Regional Planning. Registered as a Professional Planner. 6 years experience in the required discipline with 2 years experience in Middle Management. Demonstrated experience in Performance Appraisals (min 2 years). Demonstrated experience in Audit and reporting (min 2 years). Valid code B drivers license. Must have the ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders, including politicians, communities and government departments.
Wide knowledge and understanding of the policies and legislation related to local government. Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office suite. An ability to demonstrate leadership skills. An ability to speak at least one of the Nguni languages with fluency.
Responsibilities: Management of all components including Spatial and Development control. Management of all functions within the Building control office. Management of all components of a Municipal Human Settlements office. Self Management. Budget Management. Preparation and timeous delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual reports related to the function. Assume total responsibility for all divisional records, before, during and after regular audit process. Participate in the performance appraisals. Willingness to travel.
