Apply sound engineering principles in the development and documentation of precision welding fixturers to be used in manufacturing and engineering, including 3D design and detailing. Tooling Design Engineer

 Design and construct 3D welding fixtures with enhanced mobility, functionality and versatility. Develop and train on automotive welding processes including spot welding and materials handling. Hands on shop floor experience with input into fabrication and manucature followed by fixture try-out, Support the manufacture process and work cell simulation, validation and offline robot programming for welding process. Investigate off-the-shelf tooling solutions and evaluation appropriateness including lead time and cost analysis. Support research and development projects with tool design and provide input on manufacturing tooling and equipment requirements. Construct tool user requirements based on safety and maintenance requirements.

Mechanical / Technical Skills: Interpretation of requirements and address design parameters and engineering problems to ensure solutions are implemented accurately. Analyse project requirements and perform technical caluculations supporting the design. Develop welding fixture design solution based on engineering principles. Detailing, drafting, laying out and specifiying technical devices, parts and equipment. Conduct, interpret and confirm measurements. Evaluate information to determine compliance with standards. Knowledge of metals and materials used in production, Knowlege of Catia / Mechanical Desktop Software. Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Minimum of two years practical experience. 3D Design and Development, 2 years of Welding Fixture Design is Essential, Applicants must reside in Port Elizabeth or Durban
