PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATE
Blue Hills Child and Family Centre and Youthdale Treatment Centres have partnered to deliver the DEC  -  Developmental Evaluation & Consultation Service  which is a specialized consultation and assessment service for children and youth between the ages of 3 and 18 years and their families. The DEC is a multi-disciplinary team that includes professionals from the fields of Psychiatry, Psychology, Speech and Language Pathology and Social Work. As a specialized consultation service, team members provide diagnostic clarification  and treatment recommendations. The children referred  to the DEC  present with a wide array of developmental challenges along with chronic, diverse, and complex mental health issues. The child and youth’s difficulties can encompass intellectual and adaptive challenges, language and learning issues, and a broad range of social/emotional challenges.  The DEC Service operates out of the Blue Hills Child &
Family Centre  which is  an  accredited community based Children’s Mental Health Agency  located in York Region.
POSITION -  Permanent Part-Time (3 days per week or 22.5 hrs./week).
PRIMARY LOCATION:  Richmond Hill/Aurora.
START DATE  -  Immediately
QUALIFICATIONS
Master Degree in Psychology from an accredited university
Registered as a Psychological Associate in the Province of Ontario. Preference will be given to those having the authority to perform the controlled act of diagnosis autonomously
Minimum of two years of psychometric assessment experience with preschool, school-aged children and adolescents (preferably including autism spectrum disorder)
A thorough knowledge of DSM-5 disorders, including learning disabilities, developmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders and children’s mental health disorders, is vital
Excellent skills in tests administration, scoring, interpretation & report writing
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written)
Capacity to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and  with other service providers  is essential
Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently within given timelines
Experience with computer and test-scoring technology
Bilingualism (French/English) (Preferred)
JOB DESCRIPTION
Complete  comprehensive  psychological assessments,  focusing on  examining  the child/youth’s level of cognitive, academic and socio-emotional functioning
Administer psychological tests, score tests results, interpret test data and write comprehensive reports based on a detailed history from parents, therapists, teachers, school documentation, previous assessments and current test scores
Coordinate and schedule appointments for follow-up assessments dates
Participate in regular interdisciplinary team meetings and in regular  feedback sessions with clients and their families and service providers
Maintain knowledge, skills, and abilities by keeping up to date regarding professional standards through reviewing current literature, attending workshops/seminars and networking with colleagues.
