DSM is seeking a Laboratory Molecular/Cytogeneticist to join our Genomics Lab. The successful candidate will have excellent analytical and interpretive skills.
The position is located in Winnipeg, in the DSM Genomics Laboratory at the Health Sciences Centre site.
Reporting to the Clinical Biochemistry and Genetics Medical Director the successful applicant will join the existing group of three Molecular/Cytogeneticists. Responsibilities will include interpretation of results, consultation with medical staff, method development, oversight of analytical and quality aspects of laboratory analysis, teaching (staff, students, residents and fellows), and potentially developing/participating in collaborative or independent research initiatives. DSM is affiliated with the University of Manitoba, and the successful candidate will be encouraged to apply for an academic appointment.
The successful candidate will have a PhD, and professional certification (or eligibility) from either:
• Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG)
• American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG)
Ideally the successful candidate will be certified in both Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics. Individuals with certification in only one of these two areas will also be considered, however preference may be given to a candidate certified in Molecular Genetics. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual, able to work in team settings, and have excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and time management skills.
The DSM Genomics Laboratory is a provincial service that provides cytogenetic and molecular genetic testing services to the residents of Manitoba. Winnipeg, the capital of Manitoba, the geographic centre of North America, is a culturally diverse city with a population of over 732,600 people of diverse backgrounds who bring an international and cosmopolitan flare to the city as well as a feeling of community. Anticipated Shifts: Days; 38.75 hours weekly; 7.75 hour shifts
Salary: $68.674 - $80.329 per hour as per MAHCP contract
