DSM is seeking a Biochemical Geneticist to be responsible for biochemical genetics and related areas of the laboratory. The successful candidate will have excellent analytical and interpretive skills.
The position is located in Winnipeg in the DSM Biochemistry Laboratory at the Health Sciences Centre site.
Reporting to the Clinical Biochemistry and Genetics Medical Director, the ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with demonstrated professional skills, able to work in team settings, and have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Responsibilities will include oversight of analytical and quality aspects of laboratory analysis, interpretation of results, consultation with physicians, being on-call, teaching (staff, students, residents and fellows (including CCMG and CACB)), and developing/participating in collaborative or independent research initiatives, depending on interest. A strong background in general clinical chemistry is an asset. DSM is affiliated with the University of Manitoba, and the successful candidate will be encouraged to apply for an academic appointment.
The successful candidate will possess a PhD, and be certified (or eligible for certification) by either:
• Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG) certification in Biochemical Genetics,
• American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) certification in Biochemical Genetics,
