Manager Improve Plant, DSM, New South Wales, DSM Food Specialties Australia. DSM Food Specialties (DFS) Australia seeks a Manager Improve Plant to lead and manage the site Improve Plant team and Capital Expenditure projects (CAPEX) for the Sydney based manufacturing site while adhering to all SHE (Safety, Health and Environment), Quality and P&O (Personnel and Organization) requirements.

This function is responsible for the following; To improve the performance of the manufacturing facility in terms of Efficiency, Utilisation, Safety and Quality. Manage and drive the implementation of all new business and R&D initiatives via Technology Transfers and Management of Change processes. Initiate, lead and manage Capital Projects (site CAPEX), the site project portfolio (Business Operations Strategy), and continuous improvement initiatives. Advance the manufacturing technology and knowledge in house in order to take advantage of new opportunities.

Broad knowledge of plant technology and operations, as well as interaction with off-site functions is essential to the success of this position.  This position acts as the local interface for integrating the site with sister cultures sites, Business Unit, R&D, DFS, and DSM as a whole.

The Challenge: Ensure plant reliability by defining operating practices and equipment parameters through collaborative work with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and SHE management. Ensure the integrity of processes and equipment in terms of SHE and Quality.

Improve plant performance and reduce production costs and waste through SHE-compliant process and equipment improvements, as well as Manufacturing Excellence (MANUFEX) work processes. For Instance; Improve performance, cost efficiency, and reliability of technical installations and production processes Support production departments in plant performance and plant operating problems through troubleshooting and RCA Review and approve all process and technical modifications. Manage technology transfers in close cooperation with R&D and other DFS facilities. Manage Capital Projects (CAPEX) and the site project portfolio to support the business growth. Manage and implement technical investment projects including new technologies.

Liaise with relevant technical and research groups. Evaluate and control change at the site as lead and gatekeeper of Management of Change process. Support the site as a member of the site Management Team. Support Food Safety and ISO Accredited programmes. The Ideal Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering or related fields. 10 years of work experience within Food Manufacturing or Life Sciences related field. 5 years managerial experience leading a team of process experts and plant engineers. 5 years plant performance engineer experience. 5 years of work experience managing Capital Expenditure projects Experience with microbial fermentation and microbial separation technologies The Reward We offer you a rewarding and challenging job with lots of opportunities for personal growth and career development in a professional, entrepreneurial, no-nonsense and very agile environment.
