Job Description
The Grand Bank Development Corporation (GBDC) is seeking a dynamic and qualified individual to fill the position of Economic Development Officer (EDO). This position is located in the Town of Grand Bank, and would assist with the delivery of the Grand Bank Community Development Fund (CDF). The Grand Bank Community Development Fund was established in 1991, and currently has assets valued at 6.5 million dollars. Under the direction of a volunteer Board of Directors, the EDO will be responsible for the implementation of the Corporation’s Strategic Development Plan, including:
• Working with specific local businesses in an effort to develop new and additional business activities that will result in new job creation.
• Working with local businesses generally in an effort to determine opportunities as well as challenges associated with business development in the Town of Grand Bank.
• Assist in the development and implementation of business attraction and investment strategies in an effort to ensure the success of the GBDC and the sustainability of the Grand Bank CDF.
• Monitor all existing Corporation loan files.
• Promote the GBDC, the Grand Bank CDF, and the Town of Grand Bank, locally, regionally, provincially and nationally, where applicable.
• Assess and prepare appropriate recommendations on business plans requiring funds from the CDF.
• Manage the Corporation’s annual operating budget.
• Other duties as assigned by the Corporation’s Board of Directors.
This is a 2 year contractual position with the possibility of renewal, and the ideal candidate should possess a business or commerce degree along with the following:
• Experience in business plan assessments including financial statement interpretation.
• Experience in report and proposal writing.
• Good communication skills, both written and oral.
• Knowledge of loan security instruments.
• Or some other suitable combination of training and experience.
Salary Range: $48,000-$55,000
