Group Health and Safety Officer, Durbanville, Northern Suburbs. Company Name: FibreUP PTY Ltd. Role: Group Safety Officer. Requirements: Ideally possesses a Diploma/Degree in Health and safety studies or related studies (SAMTRAC). Professionally registered as a safety officer/safety Manager with SACPCMP. Drivers Licence with own transport. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel). Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Attention to detail, be able to work independently as well with a team. Minimum of 4-5 years of experience as a safety officer. Excellent communication skills (Verbal & written).

Responsibilities are but not limited to: Carry out investigation into all accidents and near-miss incidents. Conduct responsibility and compliance with of the company’s H & S in Telecommunications Industry. Regular checks of documents and procedures to ensure that quality standards are maintained or improved, Review, develop and manage all company health and safety policies and objectives and be familiar with the applicable laws and regulations. To support and coach the staff with the latest health and safety legislation and regulations and increase H&S awareness at all levels within the Company. Arrange/ schedule weekly meetings with Health and Safety representatives. Receive HSE Representative inspection reports and document action lists based on risk of deviations identified. Ensure policies are adhered to Assist with training needs determination based on HSE System and OHS Act requirements and monitor that training is up to date. Give monthly reports on incidents, near misses, injuries, and corrective actions taken to avoid the same incident to occur in future. Report incidents to Department of Labour on correct WCL documents where required. Generate monthly dashboards and feedback on HSE compliance and deviations.

Work with appointed 16.1 and 16.2s in all areas. Attend HSE internal compliance audits. Development, co-ordination, management of processes and implementation of one or more specific areas of the HSE management system requirements.  Review and document non- conformances. To assist in documenting incident investigations and report on all person injuries and critical incidents occurring to staff, contractors, visitors, identify route course and corrective actions where necessary.

Ensure safety signage and notice boards with postings including but not limited to: Health and safety policy, inspection and audit results, project hazard assessment, location of first aid, fire equipment etc. are maintained. Assist with emergency preparedness and communicate any emergencies which can occur, e.g., fire, contact the necessary emergency services. Perform self-audits and ensure compliance with the documented processes. Review the process documents and update and upgrade in coordination with the Management.
