We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support large-scale infrastructure and cloud initiatives for a Federal Government agency.

This is a long-term role (12+12+12 months) offering the chance to work across enterprise projects that align with the agency’s broader digital strategy — from cyber uplift and disaster recovery to system modernization, secure cloud migration, and ongoing compliance uplift.

You’ll be responsible for the design, administration, and support of critical platforms including Microsoft 365, VMware, Azure, Citrix, and OKTA — playing a key role in both strategic uplift and BAU stability.

Key responsibilities:

Administer and support Microsoft Cloud services (M365, Azure AD, SharePoint, Dynamics365)

Maintain identity and access management strategies using Active Directory and OKTA

Implement and manage authentication protocols (SSO, MFA)

Manage Windows Servers via VMware and Azure Arc

Maintain vCenter and Dell Fibre Channel SAN, including patching and optimisation

Deliver and document secure hybrid cloud environments, including VM migration to Azure

Support backup and recovery using Commvault

Manage Citrix platforms including NetScaler, StoreFront, and XenDesktop

Lead workshops, produce system documentation, and contribute to design artifacts

Ensure Essential 8 compliance and contribute to ongoing cyber resilience

Skills

10+ years’ experience in enterprise ICT environments

Federal or state government projects HIGHLY REGARDED

Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure and COTS platforms

Deep experience across Microsoft, VMware, Citrix, and backup environments

Confident stakeholder communicator and team collaborator

Ability to work across agile delivery models

Location: Ideally Canberra, or NSW, VIC, QLD (hybrid model)

Clearance: Must be able to obtain baseline/Ideally holds a clearance

Contract: 12-month initial term + 2 x 12-month extensions
