Australia’s Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre (SBEnrc) was established in 2010 as the industry-funded successor to the CRC for Construction Innovation (2001-09).
SBEnrc brings together national industry, government, and research organizations to make an impact in Australia’s built environment sector.
SBEnrc is headquartered at Curtin University, Bentley Campus.

Your new role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated senior research officer to join our dynamic team in a fixed-term (until 31 Dec 2027), part-time (0.4 FTE) role, with flexibility to work between Tuesdays and Thursdays. This pivotal role is designed to provide essential high-level support to the chief operating officer across various research functions, ensuring strategic alignment between research projects and organizational goals. The successful candidate will bring expertise in project management, data handling, and research dissemination to enhance research quality, impact, and organizational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Development and Management: Support the development and management of research projects in consultation with the COO/Academic Project Lead, managing project activities, implementing deliverables, and liaising with industry, government, and researcher stakeholders to facilitate successful project outcomes.
Research Activities and Reporting: Actively participate in research activities by collating, synthesizing, and critically reviewing information from literature searches. Collaborate with project leaders to draft and prepare progress reports and papers for publication, while also contributing to the presentation of research findings at workshops, seminars, and conferences.
Data Analysis: Analyze complex data sets, interpret experimental results, and report on findings to ensure informed decision-making and effective communication of research outcomes.
Compliance and Professional Conduct: Adhere to occupational health and safety criteria and comply with national and state legislation relevant to research activities. Demonstrate the highest standards of professional conduct as a member of the university community.
As this is a fixed-term position, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of the role. This position is based at our Curtin Bentley campus; candidates are expected to either be currently located in Perth, WA, or express a willingness to relocate at their own expense. Please note: Relocation and sponsorship support will not be provided for this position.

Selection criteria
Essential
A degree (preferably honors) in a relevant discipline with considerable relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
A high level of discipline-specific knowledge and considerable experience in relevant scientific/research methods, techniques, and protocols.
Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage project activities to achieve desired outcomes.
Demonstrated high-level problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to analyze experimental/research results and report on findings.
Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
Demonstrated high-level written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex material in clear and concise language and contribute to research reports and publications.
Demonstrated competence in the use of computer applications and relevant digital technologies.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and effectively in a team environment.
Desirable, but not essential
Progress towards a postgraduate qualification.
Previous experience in a tertiary education environment.
