Warrumbungle Shire Council is currently seeking a proactive, approachable, and solutions-focused Compliance Officer to join our frontline team. This role is a key community-facing position and plays a vital role in promoting safety, environmental protection, and community wellbeing through the effective enforcement of local regulations.
In this role, you’ll be tasked with a diverse range of responsibilities—from animal control and illegal waste investigations to addressing issues of public safety, such as managing stray livestock and responding to serious dog attacks. Your days will be dynamic and community-driven, often involving investigative work based on requests from residents. You will need to balance firm enforcement with empathy and practical problem-solving to ensure fair and consistent outcomes for all.
You’ll work closely with internal teams, community members, and external stakeholders such as NSW Police to resolve issues quickly and professionally. With your strong interpersonal and communication skills, you’ll be an advocate for responsible community behaviour while educating residents on regulations and their responsibilities. While this is not a management role, you’ll have the opportunity to suggest and support improvements to systems and customer service delivery as part of a collaborative team environment.
We’re looking for someone with a background in regulatory enforcement, local government, or a related field, who brings high-level customer service, sound judgment, and practical animal handling experience. You must be physically capable, hold a valid NSW Driver's Licence, and be willing to participate in a rotating on-call roster for emergency situations.
This is a casual role, however it is expected that work will be available to December 2026, so this is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience and training, and potentially start your compliance career!
