Job Description:
As a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Officer, you will support the collection, maintenance and delivery of accurate spatial data that strengthens planning, decision making and service delivery across the organisation. You will produce maps, reports and simple spatial analyses, assist with system updates and provide approachable, helpful first-level support to staff.
You will balance technical tasks with customer service, working with colleagues from across the Shire to ensure data is clear, current and accessible. You will help integrate GIS data with corporate systems and contribute to new tools, datasets and process improvements as we continue to grow our GIS capability.
This role offers plenty of variety, from mapping requests to data audits and project support, giving you the chance to build your skills while helping to elevate the Shire’s spatial services. You will be happy to work autonomously while also collaborating closely with the team to deliver shared goals and consistent, high-quality outcomes.

Base annual salary of 80,340 per annum
Annual Leave loading of 17.5%
Up to 14% Shire superannuation contribution

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:
Behaviour aligned with the Shire’s HEART values of Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork
Ability to use GIS software such as QGIS, ESRI or IntraMaps for basic mapping and data tasks
Understanding of spatial data concepts and data management
Developing knowledge of MS SQL Server
Strong attention to detail with the ability to capture and maintain accurate datasets
Good communication skills to assist internal users and document processes
Ability to plan and prioritise work to meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and in a team
A Certificate or Diploma in GIS or a related discipline would be advantageous. Experience with corporate system integration, spatial data sources used in Local Government and tools such as FME will be highly regarded.
