As the cook you will take on the responsibility for planning and implementing a nutritious, fresh and exciting menu. You will provide high quality, nutritious meals in a safe and hygienic environment and work within a team of early childhood professionals to deliver an innovative, high quality and inclusive service building strong, meaningful relationships with children and families, and delivering the support of the SDN village to their lives.

About you

You will be a passionate, motivated and skilled cook with a special interest in children’s nutrition, inspiring a positive mealtime experience as well as healthy eating habits for children.

You will have experience and skills in the following: Commercial Cookery / Certificate IV in Hospitality Management or equivalent. Food Supervision Certificate. Minimum 6-12 months as a cook in a childcare setting. Current Working with Children’s Check (NSW)

· Completion of Nutrition and Menu Planning for Children training (desirable)

· Good oral and written communication skills

About the role (essential)

In this role, you will be responsible for planning and implementing fresh, nutritious, and engaging meals throughout the day that support children’s health and wellbeing.

This will include: Preparation and serving of food and drink to children attending the centre in line with the centre's program. Planning and implementing a nutritionally balanced menu guided by best practice. Ensure all allergies and cultural requirements are catered for, while supporting children with food sensitivities and preferences. Ensure daily cleaning of all kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery and appliances.

Our Marrickville Centre is a 57- place centre in the heart of Sydney’s inner west, offering early childhood education and childcare from birth to school age. This centre has been caring for children for more than 80 years and during this time has developed strong, reciprocal, respectful and interactive relationships with our community.
