REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST/ STUDENT COUNSELING SERVICES
In the following text, the masculine form applies to women as well as to men Student Counseling Services at Bishop’s  University is seeking the services of a Registered Psychologist/Psychotherapist for the current semester. Under the authority  of the Dean of Student Affairs, the successful candidate will provide direct counselling to students and assist in the overall operations of the department. The position is available immediately, will be required until April 2015, and is offering flexibility in terms of working days, and working hours to accommodate the best candidate(s).
Nature of duties and responsibilities
Provide individual, couple and group counselling;
Provide crisis intervention, risk assessments and follow-up;
Develop and provide psycho-educational workshops;
Develop educational material related to a variety of mental health issues and resources;
Assist in strategic planning and other initiatives for Student Counselling Services.
Qualifications & requirements
Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology or equivalent, Doctoral degree preferred;
Registered psychologist or psychotherapist in good standing with the Order of Quebec Psychologists, or eligible
for registration with the Order of Quebec Psychologists (Ordre des psychologues du Québec);
Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a post-secondary educational setting;
Knowledge of the Code of Ethics, the professional Code and all Laws & Regulations governing psychologists in Quebec;
Knowledge of group & cross-cultural counselling, developmental/social/career psychology, personality  theory, special  needs, short-term solution-focused approaches to therapy, and good crisis  intervention  and risk assessment skills;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to communicate effectively in English; fluency in French is considered an asset.
Classification: Class 17 $29.75 to $38.83 per hour (APBU – unionized position)
