We are an acute medical and surgical hospital with 246 beds, conveniently located in the southeastern suburbs of Melbourne, easily accessible via the Monash Freeway and EastLink.

The associate nurse unit manager of Florey Ward will be responsible for managing our large orthopaedic and neurosurgical specialties, both elective and emergent, within a 30-bed ward.
The role of the Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) incorporates assisting with the management and administration of the unit in conjunction with the facilitation of best practice nursing standards and care.
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager of Florey, the successful applicant will act as both a leader and a clinical resource in this acute setting while directly contributing to the development and implementation of policies and procedures appropriate to the unit and the hospital.
The success profile and key accountabilities of this position include
Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in providing strong, effective leadership, and change management strategies within the Florey ward
Ensure the professional development and support of the staff
Delivery of safe, effective, direct, and indirect patient-centered care throughout the continuum of care from point of admission to discharge.
Facilitation of the Australian Clinical Health Standards, providing exceptional care to our patients to ensure positive patient experience.
Development of strong collaborative relationships with our visiting medical officers.
Requiring an understanding of financial acumen, ensuring bed utilisation, efficient labour management and supply management
Enhancement of relationships with other departments within the hospital
Sound judgment and decision-making in consultation with key stakeholders to ensure that service delivery of the unit is in line with the hospital strategic plan.
Essential Criteria:
Bachelor's degree in nursing
Postgraduate qualification desirable, but not essential
Previous management experience within an acute hospital environment
Flexibility to work a 7 day rotating roster—including night duty
Strong customer service
Self-motivated and proven ability to work as part of a collaborative team
